I’m always having trouble finding the right things to wear to the workplace – what are some ways for me to keep my look both stylish and professional? – Carrie, 22 PDF Print E-mail

Project a polished image:
It’s all about first impressions in the corporate world. Rock your office wear with a confident attitude. Make sure your nails and your hair is nice and neat. Some make up can also help to highlight your best features and will give an overall positive projection of your image.

Should I invest in a suit?
If your office requires you to wear professional looking outfits to work, then you should invest in one. The two things to look out for when buying one is to look out for cut and cloth, as well as quality fabrics like pure wool and cashmere mixes and trimmings such as horn buttons. A single breasted jacket with a neat shoulder line, gently fitted to the waist, with a slim-fitting skirt that ends below the knee is a classic that will flatter most women.

Things to avoid:
Too much color and jewelry will make you stand out in a bad way. For your shoes, avoid too high a heel – just a medium heel will do and keep things practical around the office. The rule is to keep it simple and minimalistic while at work and save the jewelry for a night out with your girl friends.

Dress to impress – even on “Casual Fridaysâ€
Jeans may be okay for Fridays, but keep those hot pink flip flops for the weekends. Your casual Friday attire should be based on your weekly work wear, just taken down a few notches.
