I’m going to hit the clubs this Friday and I want to look good but don’t want to get out of my comfort zone – what should I wear? - Karen, 24 PDF Print E-mail

For a standout outfit that looks great but comfortable, here are a few simple rules to follow:

Pay attention to details: Choose a dress with a more classic silhouette or colour that has has great detailing. Examples include black silk cocktail dress and lace. Black is a typical choice for most ladies, but careful detailing such as lace embellishments can give your dress an unexpected touch.

If you’re going to get drunk, don’t wear heels: Chances are, unless you’re planning on getting just one glass of beer, you will be getting a little bit tipsy. Hobbling in heels do not make a great look, and going barefoot at the club may not be the best idea.

Make sure this is not the first time you’re wearing that dress:. To make sure that you’re not constantly trying to make sure the dress rides up too far when you sit down, or scratching your upper thighs in an unglamorous manner

Find a good cover up: A pretty shawl or a soft leather jacket gives your look extra points while making sure you’re warm, covered and prevents you from feeling
self-concious. You can also use it to make your ‘grand reveal’ of the outfit that lies beneath.
